FOURTH OF JULY
10:00am     Security checkpoints open. All bags, coolers, backpacks and closed containers will be searched 
PERMITTED ITEMS: Strollers : Folding chairs : Service animals must be kept on a leash no more than four feet in length : Coolers - no alcoholic beverages : Backpacks : Plenty of water
ITEMS NOT PERMITTED:  No glass containers : No Alcoholic beverages : Bicycles : Grills : Umbrellas : Sticks or poles : Fireworks : Posters and signs : Laser pointers : No weapons of any kind including: firearms and ammunition, mace, pepper spray, non-aerosol spray, knives, blades, sharp objects, razors, box cutters, pocket or hand tools such as "leatherman" tools

11:45am     National Mall and Memorial Parks Independence Day Parade. Over 60 units of National personalities Floats Marching bands Giant helium balloons Favorite Costumed characters and specialty groups march westward along Constitution Avenue from 7th Street to 17th Street NW

Daytime Junior Ranger Program activities at the Sylvan Theater Thomas Jefferson Memorial 

BEFORE THE FIREWORKS: Arrive early to good through security inspection and claim a good viewing spot. Avoid the last minute rush

GETTING TO THE FIREWORKS: Walk, get dropped off or use pedicabs or public transportation. Nearby Metro stops are: Red line- Union Station : Orange/Blue- Capitol South & Federal Center SW : Green/Yellow- Archives/Navy Memorial/Penn Quarter

HANDICAP ACCESSIBLE: All public entry points will be wheelchair accessible. Wheelchairs will be rolled over the West Capitol Lawn

3:00pm US Capitol grounds open. Enter through the end of Arlington Memorial Bridge at Arlington Memorial Circle : Parkway Drive, NW, at Lincoln Memorial Circle : Constitution Avenue at 23rd Street, NW : Constitution Avenue at 17th Street, NW : Constitution Avenue between 14th and 15th Streets, NW : Independence Avenue and 14th Street SW : West side of 14th Street, at Jefferson Drive, SW : Maine Avenue at Raoul Wallenberg Place SW formerly 15th Street :  East Basin Drive SW just south of the Thomas Jefferson Memorial. Wisitors won't be able to access the National Mall from this event entrance and East Basin Drive SW at Inlet Bridge

6:00 - 9:10pm    United States Navy Band Concert on the ground of the Washington Monument

6:00 - 9:10pm    National personalities salute the Military in a concert held on West Lawn of the US Capitol


The Capitol Fourth Concert will be broadcast Sunday live from the West Lawn of the United States Capitol from 8:00- 9:30pm

MEDIA ACCESS:  Accredited media is allowed to cover during Saturdays day rehearsal and Saturday nights full dress rehearsal. There is no media access during the live taping of Sundays show. Media credentialing applications are submitted through www.pbs.org/capitolfourth or www.pbs.org/pressroom

CLOSURES: closes 4:00pm Sunday through the conclusion of the fireworks display and safety inspection. Constitution Gardens and the Memorial the Fifty-Six Signers of the Declaration of Independence  close Sunday through the end of the fireworks display and safety inspection. The Elm Walks along both sides of the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool are closed temporarily and will remain closed until the conclusion of the Fourth of July fireworks display and safety inspection

TOUR BUS REROUTING: From FridayJuly 2 at 9:00 am through Monday July 5 at 9:00 am tour buses are rerouted from First Street between Constitution Avenue NW and Independence Avenue SW to Third Street between Constitution Avenue NW and Independence Avenue SW for passenger drop off and pick up

BATHROOM PORT-A-POTTY LOCATIONS:
Lincoln Memorial : Franklin Delano Roosevelt Memorial : Thomas Jefferson Memorial : Washington Monument Lodge : West Potomac Park between Independence Avenue SW and the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool : Museums of the Smithsonian Institution

AFTER THE FIREWORKS:  Avoid walking along Independence Avenue SW between Daniel Chester French Drive SW and 17th Street SW until safety teams clear the area of potentially harmful fireworks debris
