DC has 40 Metro stations
Metro marks the location on wall placards and upright pillars in each station. The location is marked on the wall placards indicating, first, on the left, the station you are located at, and on the right, the final stop the train makes, along with all the stops in between along with train connections. This information is indication on the upright pillars too, with the station you are located at marked highest on the pillar and the last station on the line indicated at the bottom.
Escalator etiquette:  STAND to the right PASS/WALK on the left
Train Etiquette:   Exiting passengers have the right to exit first before new passengers board
                              Move to the center of the train and let others board
                              There is no eating or drinking in the Metro. Violators are fined and/or jailed

Doors: Bells signal the closing of Metro Car doors. Take the bell as a serious warning. When the doors

DC licensed cabs may pick up passengers within the District at anytime, Out of State Taxicabs may pick up passengers on a pre-arraigned basis. DC cabbies must be licensed posting their license where visible to the rider. All cab related fares and information must be posted in the cab in the passenger compartment usually on the rear door  left/right windows. DC cabs must provide a meter printed receipt for payment of the fare. Distracted driving such as talking on the cell phone is not allowed.
