As part of the Let Girls Learn initiative and on the occasion of the 71st United Nations General Assembly, First Lady Michelle Obama will host Broadway Shines A Light on Girls’ Education, a special event for the spouses of Chiefs of State and Heads of Government participating in the UN General Assembly at New York’s historic Bernard B. Jacobs Theater. This event, focused on global girls’ empowerment, will be emceed by Stephen Colbert and showcase a variety of performances by Broadway’s finest, including Cynthia Erivo from The Color Purple, Sarah Bareilles from Waitress, and musical numbers from Beautiful and Wicked. In addition, the event will feature young women from Malawi, Jordan, and Pakistan who will share their personal stories of overcoming adversity in pursuit of an education. The event will also include remarks from Mrs. Obama, Her Majesty Queen Rania al Abdullah of Jordan, and the First Lady of Malawi, Dr. Gertrude Mutharika.

White House to Host Event on Progress Using Behavioral Insights to Better Serve the American People  9 . 15
White House will host an event highlighting ways that research insights about how people make decisions are being incorporated into Federal programs and policies to improve outcomes for Americans. Over the past seven and a half years, President Obama has empowered his Administration to tackle complex policy challenges using evidence-based approaches. This event will highlight measurable progress, in areas ranging from military retirement security to school-meals access for low-income students, made by the Administration’s Social and Behavioral Sciences Team in implementing the President's Executive Order, "Using Behavioral Science Insights to Better Serve the Nation” over the past year.  The event will bring together leaders from government, academia, philanthropy, and non-profit organizations.
